WHAT WE LEARNT AT THE LONDON GATHERING OF ONE HUNDRED

One Hundred is Omnicom Group’s purpose agency collective, a group of multi-disciplinary agencies focused on helping organisations find and activate their social purpose. One Hundred’s expertise spans strategy, creative, digital and activation. Fuse is partner agency leading on brand purpose strategy and partnerships.

Last week Fuse headed to the London Gathering of One Hundred where we joined CEOs and leaders from across all sectors intent on creating and driving positive social change and environmental awareness. It was an inspirational evening packed with insight, knowledge sharing and capacity building

Here’s five things we learnt:

On effecting organisational change:

“If I tell my staff I’ll bonus them on sales, they sell more. If I tell them I’ll bonus them on improved customer service, customer service improves. And if I bonus them on meeting sustainability targets or reducing plastic then guess what happens,” Paul Poleman, CEO Unilever

That kindness in business has been underrated:

“The Kind Leadership Index is coming, and we’re going to start recognising those who prove you can be kind and a successful leader,” Pinkie Lilani CBE, Founder of Women of the Future and Kindness in Leadership

We’re witnessing a tipping point in the battle against climate change:

“Human will power is a renewable resource in itself, all movements in history have been met with intense resistance but we’re starting to understand it is wrong to pollute,” Al Gore, former Vice President and Climate Change Activist

Inclusivity for everyone will drive business growth:

“There’s a huge competitive and financial advantage to include the 1.3bn people globally living with disabilities and inviting them into business,” Caroline Casey, Founder of #Valuable

On individual purpose, we should all dare, care and share:

“I live by the following mantra: Dare, Care and Share. Dare to be bold, be the first mover and do so with courage. Care, for yourself, your family, your community and the planet. Importantly, don’t forget to share, bring others along with you, share your knowledge and your wealth,” Lord Verjee, founder of Domino’s Pizza and Philanthropist
